That's My World! Tuesday

I took hammer, drill and some brass screws and skillfully performed some DIY (Do It Yourself) projects in the backyard today. None were finished when I called it quits but just handling the finely-made brass screws made my day. And, to be honest, I didn't really display any "skillful" handling of the tools or the project at hand, but it still was kind of fun and relaxing. (Especially because it's not 90+ degrees.)

Funny about the brass screws. Do you ever buy the wrong items or thingamajigs at the big home repair stores and then not return the wrong purchase...ever? I do it all the time and have accumulated my own warehouse full of hardware and tools that may never be used. BUT, when a new and unexpected project rears its head, those mis-purchases sure do come in handy. I have no idea why I bought the half pound of fine, 1 1/2" brass wood screws, but they came in handy today. Now I have to try tomorrow to finish what I began today. But, that's not 'til tomorrow.

Every week bloggers from around the world show you THAT'S MY WORLD. Visit others to glimpse at the fun and get a taste of our bit of earth at "My World Tuesday."

You've made art out of the ordinary. Very nice.

There are so many comments that could be made to this, but most of them would not be for public examination...so I shall merely say that I understand completely and have same number of forgotten screws, nails, boards, pieces of metal, pvc, etc. cluttering up my garage.

I've also got lots of tools that I don't use.

But, one never knows when any one or all of these things may come in handy and thus they are indispensable. Like a good cigar!

Good for you for getting the projects done.

To return them would be admitting you bought the wrong item...it's a guy thing. My husband does the same thing...he could open his own hardware store! LOL
I hope you took this comment with good humor as I wrote it with a big smile on my face!

Frank, I think you just told the story about 99% of us men could have told. I can't explain it either, but I have coffee can after coffee can of hardware. How tough was the job? I only ask because if I'm not mistaken that's the stem of a wine glass.

My philosophy on home repairs, "that's why they make tomorrows."

Very nice picture Frank and yes I have done that before too. I seem to always find a way to use them though.

I try to return things but I wait until I have a lot. It looks like you might have had a tasty libation to accompany that DIY project...

My word verification is:
fjixin

I'm fyixin to go out and work on a dresser I've been painting.

What a luxurious combination of colors and textures. I LOVE it!

@ Don and Krise and PAULA - What appears to be a wine glass, or libation, is an exotic and essential tool for the lubrication of the machinery necessary to c=accomplish said project. Any resemblance to a wine glass is purely coincidental and in no way slowed or impeded the completion of the job at hand...OK, so I didn't finish it.

I gave up on coffee cans as they were unable to contain all the larger mis-purchases.

@ Jacob - I have done a good job of finding homes for tools that I admired, and had BIG plans for, but never used. I'm proud to have moved them to someone else's garage where I'm sure they are attracting new dust.

I wish I could see the relaxation potential of drills! My husband spent all last Saturday afternoon happily taking a drill apart and putting it together again...
But it makes a great photo.
