The sky and clouds are always in motion and dance behind all of the man-made elements in the scene until you hope all is in perfect alignment. Shooting in black and white makes the dance take on a whole different, final composition. My camera and I are often drawn back to this pier for its variety of shapes, colors, people and wildlife. Something new is always happening here and in the park nearby. It's fun and alive. The sky and clouds are always in motion and dance behind all of the man-made elements in the scene until you hope all is in perfect alignment. Shooting in black and white makes the dance take on a whole different, final composition. You win the prize for being the best maniac among the monochromes! This is a delightful shot. I, too, love piers...this is one of the nicest I've seen...
And you're right...I've fished for hours off of piers and I've watched others fish for hours and it's not too often anything worth keeping is caught.
But it's fun.
I wish this dear city had a lot more interesting docks and piers to explore and shoot but even Cedar Key has tons more. This one presents almost endless possibilities but I need a maniacal break. I might just have to start shooting private docks soon. Bail money?
