When pirate flags and elaborate feather-bedecked wreaths begin to appear on homes in South Tampa neighborhoods you know that the city's annual Gasparilla pirate invasion and parade are growing near. This year the huge celebration is January 30th. A parade that's more kid friendly is the January 23rd.

Arggghhh matey! Will ya's be donnin' the pirate garb yourself?
Well, shiver me timbers, I bet there are more than a few timbers shivering down there right about now. Frank, I would love to meet you and Mrs. Tampa DP but my brother and my dad are the tour directors on this very short cruise through the sunshine state and I think they've got me over-booked at this point. I'd love to come down sometime for a somewhat longer stay and meet all of my favorite CDP friends from Florida. Is that unrealistic?
Well, you have answered one of my questions about my new home, South Tampa. I've seen these banners and couldn't figure out whether they were supporting the Bucs or the "real" pirates of Gasparilla.
Let's hope it warms up by January 30!
Pirates are notoriously thin-blodded! And blood-thirsty. Wouldn't want to piss them off, pardon the French.
@ Brattcat - We would love to see you in the Sunshine State. But, realize, Jacob is two hours from me, Lois is about 5 as is B Squared. None of us live near one another.
Let us know when you're next traveling through the state...when it's warmer. too.
I will...maybe there is a location where we can all converge without anyone having to go toooooo far. I'm sad it won't be this time.
OOOOOoooooooooooooooooo, scary!
