Monochrome: Windsurfing is so not easy

A father and his two sons gathered in the shallow water to try their hand at windsurfing. They admitted it was their first time with a windsurferboard and they patiently took turns from evening light until it was too dark to see. The Mistral Windsurfboard was forgiving but a ride in the wind eluded them...this time. My guess is they had a lot more fun trying then if one had sailed off into the wind alone. It was great fun to watch, too.

Go see more of the world in black, white and grays at Monochrome Maniacs!

I've never tried windsurfing, but I'll bet it's a whole lot more work than it looks. Great monochrome Frank.

Never got to try this and despite twelve yers with boats, sail also eluded me. Love it - really fine composition.

hello Frank, sure windsurfing is difficult esp. in the beginning....

Frank, I am living your paradise life vicariously through you! Glad that you captured this photo of the dad and his kids. I hope that they will get a chance to see it on here. What great memories they will have of that day!

Much more fun to watch than do in my opinion. I tried learning to windsurf several times when I was younger, but ended up having to be rescued as I drifted further and further out in the gulf. Very embarrassing and I finally gave up! This is a nice monochrome Frank.

Interesting composition of the diagonal against all the verticals.

From what I've seen, it takes a special skill to windsurf well and I've seen some skilled windsurfers bite the surf, so to speak.

It is probably a lot of fun, though.

Nevertheless, I shall hold back my rampant enthusiasm for such a physical endeavor in order the better to capture other's glory with my camera!

Wonderful reminder of my first time windsurfing in Long Beach, CA. I got up right away and made it across Los Alamitos Bay (with the wind) but couldn't for the life of me sail INTO the wind to get back ;--)
Hugs and blessings,
