Is This An Odd-Shaped Elephant?

This isn't some new public art project or an elephant carcass someone is trying to hide. Of course not. Everyone in this part of Florida knows that when freezing temperatures are forecast you go through your linen closet and get every old sheet, blanket and towel - oh, and tarps, too - to encase your delicate, tropical landscaping. The covering is supposed to go to the ground to keep the warmth in and around the plants. These are (or were) palms, crotons and liriope.

You captured the effect of freezing weather well! I heard that much of the citrus crop is gone.

Wow--it is so wierd that here in Oregon we have temps higher than where you are...this is just the oddest weather...interesting photo. We use plastic and hay here. (grin)

You just do what's necessary. I really feel for you during this cold spell.

Have you lost any of your landscaping?

Oh! Interesting.

The more I learn about winter and snow and frost from CDP bloggers, the more I'm glad I live in a tropical country.

@ Brattcat - Many folks have lost plants (including our strawberry and citrus farmers) but most homeowners won't know until the temp rises and plants don't show sign of recovery. There are some very pathetic looking yards and lawns but much will come back. (If it doesn't, as they say, don't replant it.)

if it saves the plant materials...who cares what it looks like :)
makes for interesting shapes though...
