Monochrome Maniacs: The Sea Gull rules over the sky, sea and fishermen.

My camera and I are often drawn back to this pier for its variety of shapes, colors, people and wildlife. Something new is always happening here and in the park nearby. It's fun and alive. The sky and clouds are always in motion and dance behind all of the man-made elements in the scene until you hope all is in perfect alignment. Shooting in black and white makes the dance take on a whole different, final composition. The gull in flight would be the winner over his hardworking human companions who struggled to land even one fish.

Go see more of the world in black, white and grays at Monochrome Maniacs!

You win the prize for being the best maniac among the monochromes! This is a delightful shot. I, too, love piers...this is one of the nicest I've seen...

And you're right...I've fished for hours off of piers and I've watched others fish for hours and it's not too often anything worth keeping is caught.

But it's fun.

I wish this dear city had a lot more interesting docks and piers to explore and shoot but even Cedar Key has tons more. This one presents almost endless possibilities but I need a maniacal break. I might just have to start shooting private docks soon. Bail money?

All of your comments are very nice. Thank you. It makes shooting the same old pier and trying to see it in a new way, and new light, Aileni and in black and white, worthwhile.

NOT a professional. A maniac as Jacob describes me. I bet I'd have "fancier" equipment if I was a pro.

Is there a job for me in Norway, Ann???

This black and white version appeals to me. It makes Florida seem really cool.

Your visit will count and help me Make History.

I should think the Gull is a lot cooler than any of the people.
